On My Father // The Way

My father is the most himself when we text.

When we are eye-to-eye, there is this invisible wall between us.

I want to punch through that wall and hug him with all my might.

Look him intimately in the eye and tell him, “I love you.”

That I love the real him;

The part of himself that has no name,

No tangible form,

Speaks no language,

Adheres to no moral or philosophical ideals.

The uncivilized,

Unbothered,

Unwavering,

Unapologetic him.

I love that man with every fiber that is mine, and I always will.

Lesson Of The 12 Jewels

Man must first get his knowledge.

Once digested, knowledge transforms into wisdom.

Through practice, wisdom evolves into understanding.

Once you got that,

Then you can attain your freedom.

But freedom must operate under the laws of justice.

Which equalizes us all under the umbrella of equality;

All sentience is created equal in the eyes of the universe — until you do something to break that equilibrium.

What does a man need to strive for?

His food (for thought & body),

His clothing (a cloak of righteousness),

And shelter to dwell within & protect.

And once you have that what’s left?

Love.

But what’s love without peace? (Nothin’)

And what’s love & peace without happiness? (More nothin’)

And happiness, in summation, is a total and complete satisfaction…

…with yourself.

(A special thank you to the RZA for this gift).
